Seahorse Retreat and Cottage is an 1885 Victorian home and cottage renovated and updated at 498 W Perry Street. The separate cottage is in the back of the property and is being rented with the house.
This 6 bed/ 5 ½ main house plus 1 bed/ 1 bath cottage offers lots of space for a large group getaway. Total of 7 bedrooms and 6 ½ baths. Parking for at least 4 cars. Easy onstreet parking with no meters.
First floor offers a full bed and bath in addition to a sitting room that is open to the new white kitchen with stacked cabinetry, stone countertops and all new LG black stainless appliances. Behind the kitchen is a full family room with fireplace, ½ bath and laundry. Bright and airy with hardwood floors throughout.
There is dining seating for 18. 4 at the counter in the kitchen, 10 in the back room and 4 more in the kitchen area. We also have 3 tables outside for the crowd.
Second floor offers 4 bedrooms, 2 of which have private baths. There is a hallway full bath for the other 2 bedrooms to share.
3rd floor is a kids attic bedroom space with a full bath with a clawfoot tub.
Think of the cottage as a separate tiny house with kitchen and bath. It has a new flooring, and bath. Lots of custom cabinets, high ceilings and a loft space used for storage keeps the cottage light and bright. There is an extra refrigerator and microwave along with kitchen space, coffee maker and plates and glasses for the couple who could use some quiet and privacy.
Great front porch with sitting area for 8 plus another 4 can hang on the rocking chairs. New great outdoor shower, 2 grills, outdoor patio with dining space and of course the side yard is perfect for a competitive game of cornhole. A beach box loaded with beach chairs awaits you on the beach.
House is centrally located on West Perry Street right across from Wilbraham park, 2 blocks to the mall and center of town and a quick 5 minute walk to the beach. Location has lots to offer with West End Garage and bakery 3 doors down and restaurants the same distance the other way. Grab coffee at Exit Zero, breakfast at doc mikes, and pizza, liquor and dinner right at the end of the block. Location is perfect for year round activities with all the events at the park, and enjoy the Christmas parade from the rockers on the front porch.
This is our second rental property in Cape May. We purchased this home on 12/31/2018 and are currently doing a total update inside and out. This grand victorian has great bones, but needs a refresh for modern living. We've done this before! Google 18 Stockton place in CM to get a feel for our design.
